In the year 1983, he returned to his home soil with an inspiration to establish a business house. Being a visionary, he was able to recognize the future prospects of the Ready Made Garments (RMG) Industry for Bangladesh, which certainly turned out to be the single largest source of Export earnings for the country today. He wanted to contribute to the well-being and prosperity of the country by generating employment and empowering a large section of female population. His firm belief led him to set up his first venture 'Evince Garments Limited' in the same year. He started with a relatively small investment and a workforce of about 350 employees at Mirpur, Dhaka. Today, under his leadership and guidance the Company is growing significantly and has become one of the leading export oriented business houses in the country with buyers in the USA and Europe.

From a small-scale beginning in 1983, he has successfully diversified the operations, both vertically and horizontally, through his vision and tenacity. The group now has a total of 11 industries. Out of which, the Garments, Textile, Design and Fashion and Retail Business & employing more than 10,000 employees.

He firmly believes in the private sector led growth of the country and promotes the view that micro and medium scale industries should be encouraged with the necessary support provided by the government, so that the employment can be generated smoothly.

He decisively believes that Bangladesh is still virgin country for doing business. Lot of potentiality is here for investment for both local and foreign entrepreneurs. Three factors he has identified for justification.

  • Biggest resource is population that can be capitalized easily as they are quick learners, humble & trustworthy. What we need is to train them as per job requirement. Government has taken initiative to develop skill base on industry requirement.
  • No heavy industry as such yet setup like Engineering, Chemical industry hence eco-environment friendly atmosphere still exists in the country.
  • As a riverine country having six seasons in a year, people are friendly, hardworking, resilient, courageous and trustworthy. These characteristics as evidenced in the workforce are conducive to sustainable investment by the entrepreneur in this country.
