Md. Abdul Kayowm Sarker joined as Chairman at the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority on 22nd March, 2020. He joined the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration Cadre, 10th batch) in 1991. He worked in wide range of government positions in his long illustrious career of field administration as Assistant Commissioner in Naogaon, Assistant Commissioner (Land) at Faridpur Upazila in Pabna, NDC (Nezarat Deputy Collector) in Rangpur D.C. office, UNO (Upazila Nirbahi Officer) at Mirsharai Upazila in Chattogram and Subarnachar Upazila in Noakhali. He also served as ADC (Additional Deputy Commissioner) and ADM (Additional District Magistrate) in Sirajganj and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) in Chandpur. Apart from his long career in field administration, Md. Abdul Kayowm Sarker has worked as Deputy Secretary, Joint Secretary and Additional Secretary in Ministry of Public Administration. He acquired proficiency in Human Resource Management by working at this pivotal post of Civil Service. He has been nominated for the prestigious Integrity Award of Ministry of Food under the 'National Integrity Policy-2017' in the FY 2020-21.

During his service tenure, he participated in a number of short and long-term local and foreign training programs held in various world reputed institutions. In Bangladesh, He carried out Foundation Course (10th BCS) from BPATC, Savar; Law & Administration Course (24th) from BCS (Admin) Academy; Survey and Settlement Training from Department of Land Records and Survey (DLRS); 79th ACAD Course from BPATC, Savar; Managing at the TOP-2 (Batch-37) from BPATC, Savar; Policy Planning and Management Course (PPMC) from BPATC, Savar. He received different kind of foreign training from QINGDAO, China on 'Popularization of Science and Technology and Capability Improve HR'; 'Senior Executive Public Policy and Reform from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore'; 'Public Servants for Infrastructure Management from MONASH University, Australia'; “Professional Development Program from DUKE University, U.S.A'; 'Managing Public Services in the Transitional Nature of Bangladesh: Institutional Integrity, Sustainable Development and Advanced Technology Applications at University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong'; 'Promotion of Good Governance from Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA), Japan'.

He visited many important countries in his service tenure like Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, China, Vietnam, India, Australia, USA, Hong Kong etc. for official and national purposes.
