Salman Fazlur Rahman is an industrialist, philanthropist and politician of Bangladesh. Mr Rahman was elected as a Member of Parliament in the 2019 General Elections from Dhaka 1 (Dohar & Nawabganj), which is his family constituency.

Mr. Rahman currently serves as the Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser, with the rank and status of a cabinet minister, principally tasked with creating an enabling environment for trade, business and investment in the country. Mr. Rahman has contributed significantly to materializing several regulatory reforms in order to ensure greater participation of the private sector in the economy. He is also leading the government's initiative to significantly improve Bangladesh's ranking in the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business Index.

One of the most renowned and successful businessmen in the country, Mr. Rahman is widely recognized for his contribution to the development of the private sector in Bangladesh. Mr. Rahman has been active in trade politics and was the President of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), the apex trade organization of the SAARC region, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI), the apex trade organization of Bangladesh, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI), Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and Association of Television Channel Owners (ATCO).

Along with his elder brother, Mr. Rahman founded Beximco, one of the country's largest business conglomerates which has 70,000 employees and annual revenues of US$ 2 billion. Beximco comprises four publicly listed and twenty private companies, operating in diverse sectors, which include Textiles, Pharmaceuticals, Real Estate, Energy, Banking, Financial Services, IT, Communication and Media. The market capitalization of Beximco companies on the Dhaka Stock Exchange is US$ 2.5 billion. Beximco Pharma is the only company from Bangladesh to be listed on the London Stock Exchange. Mr. Rahman's business instincts, leadership and farsightedness have been credited with Beximco's exceptional corporate identity at home and abroad.

Mr. Rahman is Chairman of the Board of Governors, Bangladesh Enterprise Institute, a leading think tank focusing on the growth of private enterprise in Bangladesh and Chairman of the Board of Editors, The Independent, one of the leading English-language newspapers as well as Chairman, Independent Television, a popular 24-hour news channel. He is also Chairman of IFIC Bank Limited, a first-generation private sector bank in Bangladesh.

Mr. Rahman is a keen promoter of sports and is Chairman of Abahani Ltd the premier sporting club of the country for Cricket, Football and Hockey.
